Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

We are now hiring for a Sr. Payroll Specialist! The Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll for employees. They will be responsible for performing complex tasks relating to payroll, including ensuring that all deductions and taxes are calculated correctly, and making sure that employees are paid accurately and on time. Additionally, the Sr. Payroll Specialist will provide guidance and support to other members of the payroll team. 

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple divisions.
  • Accurately process and review payroll on a regular basis, ensuring completeness of all transactions.
  • Union payrolls, ensuring correct fringe benefits and reporting to trade union(s).
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll data, including employee information and tax withholding status.
  • Respond promptly with a strong customer service approach to payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Import and export payroll data via CSV files and ensure data integrity across systems.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports as required.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to verify the accuracy of employee data.
  • Partner with HR to ensure proper onboarding/offboarding of employees in payroll systems.
  • Manage time and attendance systems, ensuring data integrity.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processing, including preparation of W-2 forms.
  • Keeping up with knowledge on payroll laws and regulations, ensuring full compliance.
  • Will maintain payroll data in multiple environments (Paychex, ADP, COINS)
  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a mid to large organization.
  • Experience with construction payroll is preferred.
  • Experience with prevailing wage and/or union payroll is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with California payroll requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (I.E.VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, & basic logical functions such as IF and OR.)
  • Thorough understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Skilled in using payroll software and related tools; Paychex, ADP, and/or COINS experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work overtime if needed.

Pay Range: $34.00 - $40.00 per hour
