The Material Takeoff Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the procurement process by accurately calculating material quantities and material lists needed by the project management team. This role requires a general understanding of construction materials, excellent mathematical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing quantity takeoffs on civil plans particular to utility installation.
  • Assist with creating material lists for purchase order issuance and shipment to site.
  • Assist with creating material add/deducts from plan set changes.
  • Assist with creating RFIs from construction plan issues/questions.
  • Assist the project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for material takeoffs.
  • Provide support in analyzing and comparing quotes from different suppliers to optimize project costs.
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, construction materials, and pricing to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of material quantities, specifications, and pricing information.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to facilitate the timely ordering of materials based on takeoff calculations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a material take-off position, or similar.
  • Experience with Planswift preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, record-keeping and follow-up skill.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to write, read, and speak articulately in English; Spanish speaking is a plus. 
  • Proficient with Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word and strong general computer skills for various software programs.
  • Ability to work with the Project Managers to resolve recurring issues.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Pay Range: $22.00-$33.00/hr, depending on experience
