We are looking for a Utility Service Laborer who will be responsible for performing various physical labor duties on construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Properly follows all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
  • Reports any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager
  • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with shovel
  • Follows direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
  • May be called upon to run small power tools such as jack hammer, drills, grinders, etc.
  • Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials, tools and supplies
  • Lifts, carries and holds material, tools and supplies
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle based on business needs 
  • Other duties as assigned

Safety

  • Responsible for ensuring OSHA standards and company safety policies are complied with at all times including but not limited to operation of tools, equipment and machinery
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience working in an outdoor construction environment, working with water or sewer utilities, gas, electric or plumbing is required
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • May require proof of a valid driver’s license and satisfactory passing of a Motor Vehicle Report (DMV) and pre-employment background check
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately to learn products, processes, safety procedures, installation techniques and equipment use
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Pay range: $20.80 - $27.00/hr
